ABOUT ME
Professional, hardworking, energetic, funny & multi talented, are words regularly used to describe Melanie Gayle. Born & raised in London, Mel attended the Barbara Speake Stage School & started her career as a singer/rapper known as CaraMel G.
In 2014 Mel started doing stand up comedy, and made it to the Edinburgh Festival in the semi-final of Funny Women Awards. The following year she was recognised by the BEFFTA AWARDS & won Best Comedian 2015, & then Best Female Comedian in 2016. Around the same time Mel revisited acting and secured roles in various short/feature films, theatre productions & the Award winning feature film Butterfly Kisses, Directed by Rafael Kapelinski, which won the Crystal Bear at Berlinale 2017.
2018 has been very exciting for Mel, who is very proud to have made the Diversity in Media Awards shortlist, in the Rising Star of the Year category. Mel also stars in the new Anglian Home TV Commercial, and is featured on their promotional marketing material. Guest appearances & a UK wide Digital Billboard campaign for Wild Wild Web, a new comedy panel show on Together TV. As well as roles secured in Feature Films & a new TV Detective Series (pilot). Look out for Mel in feature film "90 minutes" by Award winning Director Simon Baker. Which will be screened at the BFI/Film London, London Screenings Industry event in June 2018.
Hosting credits in central London include, the London Short Film Networking events, Kush Film Boutique screenings & Videoke where she hosts as her doppelganger Missy Elliott. Mel also performs stand up comedy sets up to 30 minutes in London & regionally.
